Infinity Ring Birthday!

Hi there! I’ve been a little quiet lately, busy traveling and editing and writing. The release of The Kill Order was a huge success (#2 NY Times Bestseller!) and I want to thank everyone who went out and bought it. I hope you like it!

Infinity Ring1 cover flat FINAL 100x150 Infinity Ring Birthday!

We already have another very exciting release. Book 1 of Infinity Ring, A Mutiny in Time, comes out today!!! It tells the story of Dak, Sera, and Riq (there’s a reason their names are spelled funny), who must travel back in time to correct the “Great Breaks” in history, which have set the world on a course for the Cataclysm, aka the end of the world. Meet Christopher Columbus firsthand as Dak and the others try to prevent him from being thrown overboard in a mutiny.

I’m really excited about this series. I have been ever since the day Scholastic asked me to serve as the “architect” and write the first and last book. The collaborative effort that’s gone into this thing will blow you all away! I’ve been honored, and had a blast, working with the team at Scholastic as well as the other five authors involved: Carrie Ryan, Lisa McMann, Matt de la Peña, Matt Kirby, and Jennifer Nielsen.

We’ve already had some excellent coverage on the book in the media. A couple of examples: THE Rick Riordan did his own review of it in the New York Times Book Review, a huge honor. You can read that by CLICKING HERE. Also, the LA Times did a really nice review of it as well: CLICK HERE.

This is going to be a very unique experience for readers. Each book comes with a fold out map that gives a code and clues to the online game component, which can be found at So when you finish the written story it leads right into the mission that readers need to complete in the game, which then leads into the beginning of the next book.

And the game is AMAZING. You can play it on your computer or with any mobile device like a phone or an iPad. It’s a fully immersive, 3D experience. In the first mission you get to walk the streets of Paris and interact with actual historical figures. I can’t wait for you guys to check it out.

I’ll be doing some extensive touring this fall to promote the series, so check out my events page on the website to see if I’ll be coming somewhere near you. The official launch party is this week, Wednesday the 29th, at 7:00 pm at the Salt Lake City Library, sponsored by The King’s English bookstore. I hope to see some of you there!

If you get a chance to read the book or see it out there in the wild, please leave us a comment. Happy reading!

WHY,WHY,WHY!!!!!! Okay first off I am mad because in the end you killed off Mark and Trina but most importantly you killed off Mark. One reason I am upset with this ending is because I felt I have alot in common with Mark secondly he is the main character now I do like that in the barnes and noble version that we find Deedee is Teresa but that doesn’t make me feel better that you killed Mark.I mean why couldn’t he be immune to the flare and survive?I just think you should write one book in this series just one more and give it a happier ending. It could be about Jorge and what he went through or the start of the Right Arm.Just could you at least write more in this series with a better ending that is all I ask.

    • anonymouse says:

Umm WHAT? I sort of suspected about Deedee but I since it never said I figured I was wrong…I feel like that is an important piece of information that should not have been exclusive to certain versions of the book…

  6. Mercedes says:

Chance!!! I wanted to read it and now I know that theres a dude called Mark, and that he died! :(

    • Chance says:

Sorry Mercedes but did you not see the spoiler alert? But to be honest I am really sorry but there is so much in that book leading up to that that you will probably until the end and there is also a good epilgue as well and again sorry.

    • Chance says:

      Just please forgive me.

      • Mercedes says:

lol, its ok, when i get to read it, i’ll forget!
(plus, when I read the Maze Runner, I always read the last paragraph of the chapter I was reading lol)

  11. Aurora says:

I got a copy of A Mutiny in Time, and it was awesome! I can’t wait to see where the series goes next, though I will be sad that you won’t be writing it :( but the rest of the authors are awesome writers (especially Lisa McMann. She’s awesome.)

  12. Andrew says:

    Hello Mr.Riordan!
I throughly enjoyed your Maze Runner series and can’t wait to read the Kill Order.
But this new book, “Infinity Ring” bares resemblance to the “Time Riders” series by Alex Scarrow.
Of course, there are probably a lot of books that bare resemblances to others. However, from what I’ve seen “Infinity Ring” and “Time Riders” seem to have the same… Plot? Perhaps… the same vibe.
    What’s your opinion on this?

  13. Rachel says:

I don’t have time for all these amazing books!! I get up at five and go to bed around twelve five out the seven days a week!! And when I am awake I am either at school, or doing homework. Stop killing me!! I’ve got no time to read. I WANT TO THOUGH :'(

  14. Rachel says:

That random five after the twelve isn’t supposed to be there…

  17. Carolyn says:

I can’t wait to read it, it sounds great! You know you’ve become a real success when your name is on the front of someone else’s book as a sales point (and Rick Riordan reviews your books!). I’ve picked up three books in the past week with your name on the front cover saying how great such and such book is. Way to go Dashner! It’s got to feel pretty incredible to be a NY Bestselling author. Enjoy your success :) I have no doubt it will only increase!

  18. My developer is trying to persuade me to move to .net from PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of the costs. But he’s tryiong none the less. 34. Angel Potato Elyse Bryan says:

    Dear James Dashner,

I would like to thank you so much for writing “The Maze Runner”, it is by far one of the best books i’ve ever read. I would get so into it and read for hours at a time. I never want to read unless I am reading a totally fabulous and wonderful book and “The Maze Runner” was definitely both of those things! I am currently in the middle of your sequel to “The Maze Runner” which is also absolutely an amazing book! I can’t wait to find out how the trilogy ends. I am a really big fan of yours and would love to read some more of the books you have written. One part of your book that really made me devastated was when Chuck died, I was really hoping he would make it out alive. I can’t wait to finish your trilogy and I think you are a FANTASTIC author!

    Sincerely, An angel potato!

    • Rachel says:

Read his Thirteenth Reality Series, it is fabulous!! A slightly younger audience is intended but I still love them anyways!!
